I'm Simon Perry, originally from Accrington - "Who are they like? Exaaaactly!". I recently made the big move from London to Woking, where I live with my wife, two daughters, and a dog.
How did you get into recruitment?
I joined Hays Montrose as a Trainee 20 years ago working within the Lifts and Escalators division before moving into more mainstream Building Services. I felt an immediate affinity with the people that work in Construction and
particularly M&E. They are hardworking and direct - sometimes too direct – but they have an absolute passion for what they do.
How did you find yourself at Page Green?
Whilst I enjoyed my time at Hays Montrose, I realised that the one-size-fits-all mentality doesn’t suit everyone. I wanted to work for a more specialized M&E Recruiter where I could give better service to my clients. I moved to Malla Recruitment, who had a long history within the Construction sector. I enjoyed my time there, but an offer to become a Director at Page Green was just too tempting and I’ve never looked back.
Do you see Page Green as different to other recruitment agencies?
I think the mantra of treating others the way you would expect to be treated is particularly relevant in recruitment.
For someone looking to move jobs, it can be a very stressful time. Conversely, any business is only as good as its staff. We are totally honest about what we can and cannot do and we keep all parties fully informed during the recruitment process. Yes, we have 40+ years of Construction recruitment experience, and yes we have a wealth of contacts garnered during that time, but it is our honest and open approach that sets us apart from the vast majority of our competitors.
What do you do in your spare time?
Outside of work, my young family keeps me pretty busy. If I do get any time off for good behaviour, I like mountain biking on the North Downs.
